Where was Andrew Munro before 1848? 

Andrew Munro died in Australia on the 13 Nov 1901 in South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. According to his death certificate he was “Andrew Palmer commonly known as Andrew Munro Imperial Pensioner Royal Artillery” On the same certificate his mother’s name was listed as Margaret Palmer formerly Munro, and father was listed as (Christian name not known) Palmer, military Officer.

His military records show him enlisting in the Honourable East India Company Regiment of Artillery at 11 am 28 Aug. 1848 at London County of Middlesex as Andrew Munro, and also show him as being born in Stirling Scotland and 20 years of age.

According to his marriage certificate in Bombay, India in 1856 his father’s name was James Munro and his was 27 years old.

Conclusions to date he was born between 1825-6 in Scotland possibly in Falkirk, Stirling, Scotland with at least one of his parents having the surname Munro and the other possibly having the surname Palmer. His mother’s first name is possibly Margaret.

I’m not sure when Andrew Munro went to England or what happened to his mother or father, I haven’t been able to locate him before he enlisted.
I'd be interested in any suggestions or feedback on how to get to the bottom of this mystery.
